We were told to have outing/ field trip/ activity on the second day of induction programme but they didn't want to reveal what are we going to do in the notice letter. Last batch went to Google Malaysia and some seniors even went to butterflies park lol ! So we're hoping to visit some creative agencies or team building activities. Guess what? Ended up with an assignment brief and grouping list on the table.
' You will be formed into teams that will comprise of students from GD, IMD and IAD and will be tasked to build a pop-up arcade booth inspired by one of them theoretical concepts provided below:
Chemistry :
Reversible Reactions
Atomic StructureEndothermic/ Exothermic reactions
Physics :
Newton Law of motion 1,2,3
Electro magnetismMagnetismRelative VelocityTerminal Velocity
...
A sample of 170 students from Sri Emas Interational School will engage with your booths and provide feedback of the game experience. '
WAIT, WHAT?! We got the brief at 2 p.m. and the workable idea must approved by lecturers before 4:30, The booth must be ready before 2 p.m. the next day.I was teamed with Penny, Shin Yin and another interior design student. I can't remember her name, she disappeared during the discussion & working session and didn't turn up the next day. We were not too sure about what the lecturers want at first but YAY we got the green light! ONE SHOT *cry*
Then they came over to my place to work on it. It was fun to work with them thou! Penny kept laughing at little things like mad xD In fact, all of us kept laughing while we're doing things :D
* working * ' EH 3 SOMETHING ADY !'
* continue working * ' OMG ALMOST 5! '
oh man the class hasn't officially started yet and we only slept for one and a half hour on the first day if induction programme ?! I thought the international school is far from Sunway then I can take a nap on the bus but it's only 10 mins journey ._. ughhh

Finished up the stuffs then finally took my 'breakfast' at 1. I was FREAKING HUNGRY & TIRED.
Ok Basically it's a maze that requires two person to play. There is a spiderman head with magnet in front front and the holder with magnet at the back. One player will stand behind the board and hold the magnet to move the character; the other one will tell the teammate which direction to move the magnet. There are three little batteries in the maze ( Why battery? watch Spirder-Man 2 then you'll know ). The little batteries are magnets as well so it can be attracted to the they must collect all three batteries and reach the end point within 5 mins. If the spiderman's head hit the needles or cross the line more than 5 times then the game is over.
Basically it's all about trusting your teammate and giving clear instructions to your friend.
she said ' OMG I'm sweating ! Ah Left ! Right ! Up a bit !'
Connection.
Hey buddy.
Checking the position of the character after the game is over
It's blank at the back.
It's harder than you thought to secure the needles and threads !! It took us all night long to finish! We used hot glue gun to secure every needle and thread and got ourselves free blisters on fingers.
There are only two groups managed to pass the game!
And the top scorers are total strangers! clapsss!
Shin Yin, Penny and I
Had a great time working with them! This is the first time we worked as a team :D Definitely a great team <3
I really enjoyed the whole workshop especially when the students approached me and say ' Hey! This is a really smart idea! How did you guys come up with this? ' 'You guys did a good job ! I enjoyed it so much !' 'You guys came out with this within a day ? Wow that's impressive!' etc
Just a few simple feedback but I AM SO HAPPY AND TOUCHED ! It's really motivating to know they appreciate our hard work ! Well , it's worthy! My precious bedtime didn't wasted ;'DD Especially when I see they were so engaged in the game! Although one of the groups really kiasu and have bad attitude. The girl asked me who are the top scorers and she said she must play this and beat their record. But they didn't keep trying until the last second and RAN AWAY HALF WAY when they knew they couldn't pass it. Well, it's just a game. Why so serious?
Anyway, although I was really exhausted but I enjoyed the workshop SO MUCH <3 Definitely a great kick start of my degree life and I surprised myself by what can I do within such limited time. Hope the coming years will be as interesting as this activity !
Last but not least, BA (Hons) Interactive Media Design , University of Hertfordshire, The One Academy.
Here I come ! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !
